WiMAX Preamble Planning

Hi All,

I am going through the technical literature for WiMAX Preamble planning using Planet. I am confused with the following:

Questions:

1. Preamble is used for the channel estimation at the subscriber, this means the BS has some channel information on the basis of which initial channel estimation is done. Otherwise the CPE sends channel estimation in CQICH. Kindly clarify this.

2. The WiMAX standard defines a total of 114 preamble indexes each… Continue

Hi Hassan,

I see you are seeking info on WiMAX network optimisation tools. We at ProVision Communications have developed advanced software algorithms around our ProPhecy prediction engine that has been specifically developed for WiMAX network optimisation. Our optimisation tools can also work with third party prediction data.

The ProPhecy optimisation tool selects the optimum number and locations of BS sites from a user supplied list of obtainable sites. The optimisation takes into account the distribution and traffic demands (including QoS) of various types of users, the costs associated with obtaining and running each BS site, the desired coverage and capacity targets, charging schemes (for revenue optimisation), radio resource allocation parameters, load balancing, and several other factors. Predictions for each potential site are obtained from the ProPhecy prediction engine, but can also be obtained from other third party tools and/or measurements. Optimisation considers traffic flow in both uplink and downlink, and determines the required backhaul capacity. The optimisation produces a ranked list of solutions, with ranking based on a choice of metrics e.g. total coverage, total aggregate throughput, total network cost, total projected revenue, amongst others.

Hope this is of help to you and if you require more info then you can reach me at:

Hi Hassan,

how are you?
Tell me your email address so that I can send you some QoS documents.
Regards.

Are you building in Urban or Ruralareas? Fixed or Mobile? What kind of capacity do you plan on offering?

Hi Hassan,

sorry for the delay...
Actually I don't have much experience in the RF field, but if you want some help with the MAC layer or QoS mechanisms I will be glad to help you.
Regards.

Hi Hassan :) If you are going to build the wimax network in Georgia as well, we'll definitely compete :)
